Greenfield Parks & Recreation will have the grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting for Thornwood Nature Center on Friday September 20th, 2024, at 11 am. Join the Parks Department and the Mayor of Greenfield, Guy Titus for this next evolution of Thornwood Preserve.
Thornwood Nature Preserve is a 40-acre woodland, donated by Herb and Judy Brown for the enjoyment of all! Whether you love nature, hiking, or camping, this preserve has a lot to offer. This park features 7 trails (ranging in difficulty from moderate to rugged), a campground (weekends only, call our office for details at 317-477-4340), a diversity of habitats, wildlife, birds, native flora and fauna, 13 blue learning posts, 3 creeks, a suspension bridge, and a variety of Family Nature Programing.
Come and celebrate this new space with us! Lite refreshments will follow the ribbon cutting.
The Nature Center will be open on Saturdays from 11am to 4pm September 21st through October 26th, with additional days and hours in the spring of 2025.
